How many of these pages are actually listed in Google?

Why is this important? If a page isn't listed in Google, then it can never be found. If Google isn't listing many of the pages in your site, then it's doubtful whether they will list additional ones that you create. It suggests that there is a problem with your online marketing.

Spend 1 minute going through the following checks to see how you are doing.

  • Establish how many pages are in your website. There are different ways of doing this, and you might need help from whoever looks after your website.
  • Open up a Google search as normal.
  • Type the word "site" followed by a colon, followed by your website URL. There should be no spaces. For example, I would type
  • Note how many pages Google returns.
  • Compare the two numbers. Although they might not match exactly, they should be very close.

If everything appears to be OK, then congratulations. Although this is how it ought to be, so many websites fail these basic checks that your competitors are giving you a head start. However, if you would like an even bigger advantage, get in touch and I can tell you how we could help you.

But what if you have a problem? If you don't care about your website marketing, then it's not really an issue. However, you wouldn't have read this far, would you?

Different things may be done to address this problem. There may be some choice; some techniques are better than others. However, not all may be available to you.

Usually I would suggest that you first contact whoever looks after your website. However, you may now realise that website design and website marketing are two different skill sets. That is why web designers pass clients to us. Get in touch and I can tell you how we could help you.

I hope that everything is in order with your website, but if not, at least you now know, and I look forward to hearing from you.
