They're still around, but the novelty has worn off. More importantly, people didn't use them; they were too much trouble.

Spend 1 minute thinking about what else you've been coerced into spending money on. Things that you were told that you must have. Things that didn't deliver. Things that were a waste of time. This happens a lot with online marketing.
If you've never been caught out, then congratulations. But what if you've been getting bad advice? If you don't care about your online marketing, then it's not really an issue. However, you wouldn't have read this far, would you?
This is not a situation where you want to speak to those who gave you the advice in the first place. You should speak with someone else. Someone independent. Someone who tries to align your online marketing with your business goals.
