Does Your Website Email Work?

Most web sites display an email address, or have an email form. Does yours?

If someone uses that email address or form, then you should get the message. Do you?

During the last 3 months we have found dozens of websites where this didn't work. The businesses didn't know about it, and they are losing customers.

Spend 1 minute going through the following to see if you are too.

The possible problems are:

  • No email address or form;
  • The wrong email address displayed;
  • The email doesn't send, or;
  • Email goes to an old (unmonitored) account.

If you have any of these issues, then potential customers will be unable to contact you, and will go elsewhere.

You want to look on your website for all places where an email address or contact form appears. Typically this is on the home page or contact page. Often it appears at the top and / or bottom of each page.

Do they look correct, i.e. is the correct email address displayed? No typos or mixing up and .com, etc.

Try sending an email to yourself by clicking on the email link or completing the form. Does it send OK? No error messages, etc.

If the email appeared to send OK, do you receive it? At the correct account? We've seen emails being sent to a different company because the website was a bad copy and paste from another site by the same designer.

If everything appears to be OK, then congratulations. But what if you have a problem? If you don't care about your website marketing, then it's not really an issue. However, you wouldn't have read this far, would you?

I suggest that you start with whomever looks after your website. However, you are now concerned about what else is wrong.

Website design and website marketing are two different skill sets. That is why web designers pass clients to us. Get in touch and I can tell you how we could help you.
